Upcoming Release of My Latest Book

Contemporary culture is awash in conflicting messages for women. Torn between feminism and conservatism, individuality and family, ambition and selflessness, today’s female professionals, wives and mothers often find themselves influenced by conflicting, powerful ideals. In Wanting All the Right Things, I've worked to weave together biblical principles, personal experiences and revealing interviews to provide solutions to the complex issues women face today.

I hope that the book may be used as a guide to achieving the life you’ve always dreamed of – a life of significance, beauty, intimacy, solitude, financial security, legacy and the supernatural.  As well, this book may help bridge the gap between the conflicting and divergent messages of secular feminism and conservative traditionalism  - giving a voice to the movement of a next generation of women and progressive femininity.

Primarily, I've written this book for female professionals, wives and mothers, ages 25 to 44, seeking balance and direction in their lives.  Also important, I hope to reach educators, mothers, grandmothers and women in ministry looking to come along side the younger women in their lives and mentor them.

Global Hope

Looking for a way to make a difference in our post 9-11 world?  Consider humanitarian work with my favorite relief agency Global Hope .  Go to areas of the world with needs that even the U.N. or the Red Cross won't touch.  Take medical supplies, seeds to plant new crops, shoes for children, water purifiers, to hurting people in the world.  Help build a botanical garden and launch a music school in cities where ruble and trash are entertainment for poor youth.  Dream, reveal beauty and a brighter future for real people who only know survival.  Inspire your co-workers, friends and family members to go on a short-term humanitarian project this year.  For more info contact Global Hope .    Needed: artists, agriculturalist, educators, nurses, engineers, architects, film makers, musicians,...real people.

Wanting All The Right Things

It's  A Girl's World!  But young women are more stressed out and confused than ever about their choices and responsibilities.  Many of us were raised by Baby Boomer parents who have only added to our anxiety by telling us we can "have it all", be self-reliant and mistrust men.  We are torn trying to pilot our post-modern lives in a culture war between narcissistic feminism and crushing traditionalism.  We are suppose to be winners, the most liberated women in history and yet men are postponing marrying us and we are driving every one around us crazy with our perfectionism. Some one please hand me a martini! Now what?  We want to make the right choices but aren't sure how.  It's time to turn this Titanic ship of female angst and frustration around and find a safe harbor this side of heaven.

Look for my new book Wanting All the Right Things at the end of the summer.  This book aims to describe the anxiety young women experience today in the areas of vocational success, beauty, dating, financial security, motherhood and finding a moment's rest.  Together we will look at our insecurities square in the face and find there's hope and fulfillment after all.  The publisher is RELEVANT and the target audience is females in their 20s and 30s. 

Look for this book at your favorite book store. Isn't is about time we start planning for the lives we dream of?  The best days are ahead of us!

But that's not all...let's get talking now.  One of the goals of my book is to create a cultural conversation about the things that women keep in private but are aching to share with other women, even younger and older than them.  What are your thoughts and burning questions about adult female life?  If you could ask anything about some of the issues I raise above what would your questions be?  Are you satisfied with your female role models?  Do you feel men respect and value as they should? Why or why not?  Who are you and where are you headed?  Does it really matter?  Where do you find hope?

Muslims Next Door

Check out my book Muslims Next Door.  As the daughter of Iranian, Muslim father and American, Christian mother I remember too well the shame and guilt of the Hostage Crisis in the late 70s.  My vivid and and harrowing memories propelled me to write Muslims Next Door to help Americans dispel their fears and suspicions toward their Muslims neighbors, colleagues and classmates. Not all Muslims are a like and not all Muslims support the Jihadists' movement.  American Muslims came to this country for many of the same reasons our ancestors did - to leave behind war, famine, poverty, lack of educational opportunities and women's rights.  Let's work together for greater peace and mutual understanding.  As Christians let's extend a hand of friendship instead of turning our backs on the kinds of people who need our support the most.
